
Fr. Istifanus Katung
Assistant Priest
Istifanus Makoshi Katung is a Nigerian Catholic priest, ordained for the Catholic Diocese of Zaria on 5th March, 2011.
Fr. Katung has held several key pastoral and administrative roles, including:
• Assistant Parish Priest and Vice-Rector of St Enda’s Church and St. Joseph’s Minor Seminary, Palladan, Zaria.
• Assistant Vocations Director and Vocations Director for the Diocese.
• Parish Priest of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Zaria
. Rector of St Joseph’s Minor Seminary, Zaria
To deepen his ministry in pastoral care, Fr. Katung pursued advanced training in Psycho-Spiritual Therapy and Counseling, earning a Master of Arts from the Psycho-Spiritual Institute in Nairobi, Kenya (2016–2018). During this period, he completed practicum placements at Asumbi Treatment Center (Kenya), Borstal Training Institute, and Our Lady of Fatima Girl’s Secondary School (Nigeria).
His academic and professional interests focus on psycho-spiritual care, particularly supporting priests, religious, and individuals facing emotional and psychological challenges.
Fr. Katung has participated in numerous professional development programs, including workshops on abuse prevention, counseling supervision, focus therapy, leadership, sexuality in ministry, and the 25th International Formators Course in Rome.
He is passionate about reading, intellectual discussions, music, walking, and quiet reflection. He remains actively involved in formation, vocations ministry, and the psycho-spiritual support of individuals.
