The Youth Group Welcome to the St. Boniface Church Youth Group! At St. Boniface Church, we take immense pride in our active and vibrant Youth Group, which has been an integral part of our parish for many years. Since its official establishment in 2021, our Youth Group has been dedicated to nurturing the faith and talents of young Catholic children, empowering them to become confident evangelists of the Christian and Catholic Faith. Throughout 2023, we organized a wide range of activities that brought our youth together, enabling them to develop their faith while having fun and giving back to the community. Some of the highlights from last year include: 1. Christmas Presents for Kids: We prepared and distributed Christmas presents for children under 11, spreading joy and love during the festive season. 2. Passion of Christ Play: Our talented youth put on a moving and powerful play depicting the Passion of Christ, bringing the message of Jesus' sacrifice to the congregation. 3. Educational Support: We provided assistance to school students, guiding them through university and apprenticeship pathways, ensuring a bright future for our young members. 4. Charity Fundraisers: Our bake and sale of cakes, as well as our annual Charity Ball, helped raise funds for various charitable causes, demonstrating our commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of others. 5. Empowerment Through Self-Defense: We organized self-defence classes, equipping our youth with important skills while promoting their safety and well-being. 6. Community Building: Events like pizza nights and the Nativity play allowed us to foster a strong sense of community and camaraderie among our members. 7. Supporting Sacrament and Catechism: We played an active role in supporting the Sacrament and Catechism group, encouraging our members' spiritual growth. 8. Esther Musical Play: During the 2023 Easter season, We had Esther musical play staging I two shows with massive success. Looking ahead, we have exciting plans for the future, including the upcoming play titled 'Esther,' which will showcase the abundant talents of our youth. We also aim to organize sports days, more pizza nights, our annual Charity Ball, and a heartwarming Christmas Carol concert. Our Youth Group warmly welcomes all young individuals who wish to grow in faith, share their talents, and have a great time with like-minded peers. We encourage you to join us in organizing and attending these enriching events, as we come together as a family in faith. Marriage Weddings at St Boniface For enquiries about weddings, an appointment should be made directly with one of the priests. At least 6 months notice is required to make arrangements. One person must be a baptised catholic and must live in the parish, otherwise a letter of permission is needed from your parish Priest to get married at St. Boniface Tooting. If St Boniface Tooting is your parish, and you are planning to get married in another parish, you will need a letter of permission from the parish priest. Copies of Marriage Certificates Fee for marriage Certificates £7.00 Certificates can be issued for weddings from 28th July 1973. If you require a certificate for a prior date, please contact the registrar at Wandsworth Borough Council. Please give three days notice when certificate(s) are required. The fee is paid when the certificate is requested.

The Catholic Charismatic Movement The Mission of the group is to help members share their faith experiences with others. The guiding principle of the group is love routed in Christ’s Amazing Grace. Membership of the group is open to Catholics and any person who is interested in learning about Jesus and the Church. Our praise and worship is charismatic in its expression. Meeting times: The group meets every Tuesday at 7.00 p.m. immediately following the 6.30 p.m. Mass. The meetings involve praise and worship, meditating on the Word of God, sharing our thoughts on God’s word and its application to self and others. There are also prayers of petition and intercession, welcome of new members to the group, and time for personal testimonies. Occasionally, there are talks given on related topics that may embrace the growth of individuals and the group. These talks are given by either selected members of the core group or external speakers. The opportunity for adoration is also welcomed whenever it is possible to arrange this. Knights of St. Columba Council 219 Who are we? We are a lay order of Catholic men, founded in 1919, and looking forward to celebrating our centenary in three years’ time. We are organised into councils, and a number of councils make a province, so we in Tooting are Council 219, within Province 12, Southwark, which comprises Kent and a portion of South London. As to what we do ,we serve and support Church and Community in a spirit of charity, unity and fraternity. We have been Involved in aiding major international causes such as Wells for Water which helped areas of the developing world that are critically short of water; Aid to the Church in Need, which provides invaluable assistance to those places where the very survival of the Catholic church is sometimes precarious; and a drive to provide spectacles for the visually-impaired in parts of the developing world. We also get involved in more local causes, organising events such as car-boot sales, coffee mornings, dances and quiz nights to raise awareness of, and funds for, these causes. We have a ceremonial and ritual dimension, providing ushers, stewards and other assistance for key church occasions, and guards of honour for visiting bishops. Being Southwark-based, for us this includes regular attendance at St George’s Cathedral and at Aylesford Priory in Kent, the latter a marvellous place for pilgrimage, retreat, or just getting away from the hustle and bustle of London. The Knights do not function in isolation. Their wives and families have an important and much-valued role in supporting their various endeavours. Key to the Knights is their spiritual dimension, what the Second Vatican Council referred to as “The Universal Call to Holiness”, being part of the lay apostolate. We pride ourselves on our complete loyalty to the bishops and clergy. With the current shortage of vocations, much more shall have to be done by the laity, and here the Knights are to the forefront. Since our humble beginnings in Glasgow in 1919, the order of the Knights of St Columba has spread throughout Britain. Today we have a membership of 4,500, and our spirit is alive and active.We welcome new members and are open to every practising Catholic male of sixteen years or over. We are aware that many of you are already involved in the parish, as for example, ministers of the Eucharist, or ministers of the Word, or choir members. The Seven Sacraments of the Chruch The sacraments of the Church are divided into the sacraments of Christian Initiation, the sacraments of Healing and the sacraments at the service of Communion and Mission. The Sacraments touch all the important moments of Christian Life. All of the sacraments are ordered to the Holy Eucharist "as to their end" (St Thomas Aquianas). 1210 - 1211 CCC. Sacraments of Initiation There are three Sacraments of Christian Initiation - Baptism, Confirmation, and the Holy Eucharist. They ground the common vocation of all Christ's disciples, a vocation to holiness and to the mission of evangelising the world. They confer the graces needed for the life according to the Spirit, during this life as pilgrims on the march towards the homeland. Sacraments of Healing There are two Sacraments of Healing - the sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation and the Anointing of the Sick. Christ, the physician of our Soul and Body, instituted these sacraments because the new life that he gives us in the sacraments of Christian Initiation can be weakened and even lost because of sin. Therefore, Christ willed that his Church should continue his work of healing and salvation by means of these two sacraments (CCC 1420 - 1421, 1426). Sacraments at the Service of Communion and Mission These are two sacraments, Holy Orders and Matrimony. These confer a special grace for a particular mission in the Church to serve and build up the People of God. These sacraments contribute in a special way to Ecclesial communion and the salvation of others.
