Fr Ernest Bonvini (R.I.P.)

Fr Ernest Bonvini had been our parish priest since 26 January 1993. Born in Lambeth, South London, he was educated at St. Patrick’s RC Primary School and The Salesian College, Battersea.He did two years National Service from 1954 to 1956 in the Royal Army Service core, followed by two years at Capion House, Osterley, then four years at the Beda College in Rome. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1971 by the then Bishop of Portsmouth; Bishop Derek Worlock.

Fr Bonvini was appointed assistant priest at the following parishes:St John in Gravesend, Kent 1971St Ephege in Wallington, Surrey 1979Holy Innocents, Orpington, Kent 1983.Then appointed parish priest to the parish of St Simon, Walderslade, Kent 1986. Fr Bonvini was a judge on the Diocesan Marriage Tribunal and sat on the Second Instance Court.

Fr. Bonvini retired on Monday 4th July 2011 and very sadly passed away at St. George’s Hospital Tooting on Friday 22nd July 2011





Fr Habte Ukbay

Fr. Habte

Fr. Habteghiorghis Ukbay Neghasi, OFM Cap., assistant priest and part time chaplain to St. George’s Hospital.  Fr. Habte is originally from Eritrea, he is a member of the Franciscan Order and has studied with the Franciscans in Canterbury and in Rome. Fr. Habte works full time at St. George’s Hospital on Tuesday and Wednesday, visiting the wards, celebrating mass at 12:30 in the hospital chapel and being on call for 24 hours on those two days for any emergency calls for a priest. His has one day a week off and works the rest of the week as an assistant priest in St. Boniface parish.  Fr. Habte Ukbay left St. Boniface Parish to take up the post of Parish Priest at SS Simon & Judes on Friday 11th October 2013.







Fr. Philip Pak, B.A. DIP.TH.

Fr. Pak’s family come from South Korea. He studied for the priesthood at Wonersh the Diocesan Seminary and was ordained a priest in 2003. Since his ordination, Fr. Pak has served as an assistant priest at Tunbridge Wells parish in Kent, until his appointment on 1st September 2008 to St. George’s Hospital when he took over from Fr. Peter Murphy as Roman Catholic chaplain.


Fr. Len Tatt

Fr. Leonard TattFr Len was ordained in July 2013 at St Georges Cathedral by Archbishop Peter Smith so St Boniface is Fr Len’s first Parish appointment.  He spent the last four years training at The Pontifical Beda College in Rome where he obtained a Batchelor’s degree in Theology.  Fr Len is a late vocation and spent most of his life working for Royal Mail as both a postman and as a Manager before entering seminary and training as a priest.  Fr. Len left St. Boniface Church to take up his new role as Parish Priest at St. Margaret Clitherow Church in Dulwich Wood Park in 21st July 2015.





Fr. Tom McElhone

Fr. Tom McElhone

Fr. Tom McElhone came to us in September 2011 after serving for a while in Corpus Christi, Tonbridge Wells after serving 13 years as Parish Priest in St. James The Great, Peckham Rye.  Previous to this he had served 10 years as a Prison Chaplain.  Fr. Tom had become a Prison Chaplain following 5 years at Catford and 2 years in Gillingham Kent.  Fr. Tom’s first post was in St. Gregory’s in Earlsfield.  Fr. Tom left St. Boniface 5th October 2015 to take up his post in Rainham, Kent.










Fr Jude


Fr Jude

Fr Jude served in the parish for three years, before returning to Nigeria. Fr Jude left our parish in May 2016.

We thank Fr Jude for his very fruitful ministry here in the parish and in St George’s Hospital.
